PKD Walk

Saturday mornings are not only for sleeping in for AZ MPI members. On September 27th, a contingency of MPI colleagues, friends, family members, and even family pets of Tom and Michelle Fulcher gathered at DC Ranch Marketplace in North Scottsdale to support the Walk for Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). This past summer, Michelle donated her kidney to a stranger so that Tom, her husband, could receive a compatible match. This extraordinary process is called "paired donation" and is a very rare occurrence especially in the State of Arizona.

We were privileged to take a small part in this life-changing event by increasing our own awareness of the disease and by lending our support to one of our own members, Michelle Fulcher. It was a positive experience for all involved as we were able to connect with others in a relaxed environment and, as a bonus, gained some heart-healthy exercise, walking 3.1 miles for a worthy cause. This was definitely a community affair.

It is always good to share and do things for others. The impact is more meaningful for you when you know the person that you are helping. A special thanks to all MPI members that provided encouragement and support!
